Silent Silver Screen Series (OOH FREE)

The Harry Ransom Center screens The General (1927) as part of the Silent Silver Screen Series on Thursday, June 28, at 7 p.m.  Directed by and starring Buster Keaton, the film follows an engineer’s comic attempts to recover a stolen Union train during the Civil War.

The screening features live music by Graham Reynolds and friends.  Seating is free but limited. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The film series is in conjunction with the Ransom Center’s exhibition The American Twenties, on display through July 29.  Mark your calendar for the final screening in the series: The Big Parade on July 19.

Oh, and don’t be intimidated by parking at UT- it can actually be a ghost town after 5 in the summertime! Either take quarters in case you find a good spot in the street, or (even better) read the signs along 21st Street (in most areas, parking is a free for all after business hours), or park in the Dobie Mall parking lot which does charge for parking (find the “skyscraper” across the street from the Harry Ransom Center).
