TEXAS Scholars Program and How YOU Can Help
August 16, 2007
The Texas Scholars Program is the name for each community’s initiatives that promote the advancement of Texas students to complete the Recommended or Distinguished Achievement Programs. Their website notes that too many students leave High School with no idea of what comes next. Many bright students are faced by the real world and haven’t a clue of how to cope much less succeed.
This program is comprised of volunteers from the business community that present the Great Expectations… Great Rewards presentation to all 9th grade students to motiate students to take a purposeful approach in high school and prepare for (as well as work toward) a creer of their choosing after high school. Initiatives and support are given to 9th-11th grade students on track to graduate as TEXAS Scholars and recognition is given in their senior year.
These volunteers motivate students by speaking about the “skills and ethics to obtain and keep a good job.” You know you have something to offer your local high school- we encourage our readers to contact the local coordinator on the Texas Scholars website today!
